On Saturday 14th July at the Light Bar in Wolverhampton we saw Britain’s number one amateur kick-boxing star Qasim ‘The Dream’ Nisar crowned ISKA Super Lightweight Champion of the World.

Qasim, unbeaten in 50 contests both in the juniors and full contact division added the World Crown to the Midland, English, three British and two European titles that he has notched up in his last two years of competition.

Undefeated and unbeatable on the domestic scene it was time to prove himself the best in the world by taking on French champion Galaoui Momo to contest the world title and the biggest prize in the amateur sport.

qasimNisar’s score totals read 47/49 Nisar, 47/48 Nisar and 47/49 Nisar. Coach Neil Kelly was overjoyed with Qasim’s performance and had this to say to Islamic Times:

“I am so happy for Qas for finally achieving one of his goals of becoming the bonifide world champion. He really does deserve his success, putting his heart and soul in to his training and dedicating his life to his chosen sport. With so many bogus titles around right now Qasim can hold his head high and knows he is one of the few who did it the hard way”

Qasim in his usual humble and respectful way had nothing but good things to say about Momo after the fight giving him credit as the hardest fight of his career so far. He had this to say

“I really enjoyed the fight and although it was a tough one I would much prefer a fight like that than to just go in there and knock someone out in a round or two. You learn so much more in that type of fight. “I am really grateful to everyone who has got me to this level so far and am so glad that I never let anyone down tonight, my family, supporters, coaches, gym mates, promoters and sponsors Burkey Estates and Premium Halal, I could have not have done it without you all and am truly thankful”.

This bout more than likely brings an end to a glittering amateur career and the start of a professional career that will hopefully lead Qasim to further success.
