Former Jackson Five member and recent Celebrity Big Brother runnerup Jermaine Jackson visited Bangladesh in partnership with international relief agency, Muslim Aid.
The visit followed an agreement signed between Jackson’s charity Earthcare International and Muslim Aid, in which the two organisations agreed to work together to combat child poverty.
In a speech at the event Jermaine said, “I am very honoured to make this union with Muslim Aid and Earthcare International. There will be many things that we can explore and do together as a great foundation, because we share the same mission of “Serving Humanity”.
Muslim Aid’s Chairman Farooq Murad and CEO Saif Ahmed were also present at the occasion, and expressed their optimism for the partnership’s success.
One such project is Muslim Aid’s new childcare initiative, the “Rainbow Family” which aims to offer economic, educational and social empowerment to children and their families.
The visit by Jermaine will raise awareness of this scheme and highlight both organisations commitment to it.
During his trip to Bangladesh Jermaine visited the sites of some of Muslim Aid’s projects which included an introduction to the Microcredit and Health Program at Pabna, Sirajgonj and Chittagong, as well as the inauguration of another Microcredit program at Hathazari. A visit to the “Destitute Women’s Rehabilitation Project” in Dhaka also took place, in addition to various charity dinners and press conferences.
Jermaine Jackson was accompanied by his wife Halima Rashid, Director of Earthcare International, Rohema Miah and Muslim Aid’s Fundraising Manager Abdul Jolil Miah.
