Dear Editor, Assalaamu alaikum, I am so pleased to see the issue of Hijab and Niqab being addressed by your newspaper in its previous issues. So many people see a Muslim woman dressed in head to toe and think, "Oppressed! He's forcing her to dress like that." "He" refers, of course, to her dictator of a husband. After all, no woman would shun mini skirts, tank tops, and shorts of her own free will.. or would they? A sincere, practising Muslim woman doesn’t wear a Hijab or Niqab just to please her husband, but in actual fact, to please Allah (swt) above all else. I’m not saying that some woman don’t like dressing like a Muslim, but we always hear about this negative side in the media. Its about time the sisters who enjoy and choose to wear a Hijab or Niqab, speak up and promote their voice as the majority amongst Muslim women. Sister Farah Khatoun (Newport in Wales)
