The failed raid in east London last June cost more than £2 million, it has emerged.

Armed police stormed two houses in Forest Gate after a tip-off that terrorists were hatching a chemical attack. Two brothers Mohammed Abdul Kahar, 23, and Abul Koyair, 20, were arrested but later released without charge after a week of questioning.

Mr Kahar was shot in the shoulder during the raid, but a report by the Independent Police Complaints Commission concluded it had been an accident.
