Q. What does Muharram mean? (Z. Khan, HALIFAX) A. The literal meaning of Muharram is forbidden. It was forbidden to wage war and fight during this month. Muharram is so-called because it is sacred [haram] and as an affirmation of its sanctity. It is regarded as one of the sacred months [Ash'hurul-Hurum]. (ALLAH TAA'LA IS ALL KNOWING!)
