STAR LETTER: Issue of Humanity And Inhumanity PDF Print E-mail
Written by Islamic Times
Wednesday, 21 June 2006

Dear Editor,

I felt compelled to write this letter. I am not a Muslim but do enjoy reading your paper. On Friday the 9th June most people were having a lovely day, the weather was great, the world cup tournament had begun and I took my wife and three young children for a picnic to the sea side. Upon returning home I was horrified to see the news images of a 12 year old Palestinian girl screaming and crying after Israeli defence force soldiers in their Hi-tech American apache helicopters gunships and tanks fired artillery shells at a family enjoying the same moments that I just shared with my family. It's a disgraceful act committed not by soldiers but heartless cold blooded murderers. It is not a question of faith or religion but rather, the issue is about humanity or inhumanity depending on where you live.

Mr Warren Smith (Father from Surrey)

Editors Comments:

We thank you for your letter. Our prayers and thoughts are with Huda Ghali at this time, But as many British and International peace keepers will tell you, this is certainly not an isolated incident. Many British journalists and peace keepers have been at the wrong end of Israeli sniper rifles and tanks. It goes largely unreported that innocent civilians and Palestinian children in school classrooms are victims of senseless killings. It’s a harsh and brutal reality that Palestinians have to live with on an everyday basis.
